Fire Birgades Union
Lee_D:
Yeah Big ups for the FARS boys and girls and also to all those in the community who rallied around to help each other out, warms the heart it does!
As for the eeejoots who take cheap shots such as the Fire Brigade union reps they are just bum fluff! To think they are after support! Theres only so much training you can do at the end of the day and FARS like the Police realise that when they join the job they are actually joining a (dare I say it) Dangerous proffession which may take the ultimate cost.
I suppose they really should begin training now for Nuclear accident combined with terrorist attack marsian invasion , sunami swilling hurricane wooshing multiple aircraft collision over a arms dump in the middle of Oxford street next. Just pillocks!
Rant over. :)

Yeah, I heard him this morning on the news... I won't repeat what I called him.
In my view they *were* prepared for it.
They went out, fought the fire, adapted their approach a number of times based on the situation which unfolded... sounds like they were doing *exactly* what they should have been doing.
I have no doubt there will be a full review of the events, and that the results of that review will be shared with other forces who have similar facilities in their regions, in the hope of making massive scale responses more efficient and effective.
Well done to the guys out there... we forget about them all too often in daily life and it is only when something like this occurs that we remember they are putting themselves on the line.

It makes you wonder, when the FBU come out with such crap, if you can trust the FBU when it comes to other issues that they have.
Great work people.

Any person entering that hell hole deserves a medal.I would like to know what provisions for a disaster like this the oil company had made, they make millions so how much do they spend.
beast5680:
having spoken to a friend who is in the service and airing my view as has been said here he said the FBU are actually taking a pop at the government for cutting training etc because it saves cost, did you know new recruits when trained dont actually see flames because of health and safety issues and they are not trained to deal with oil/fuel fires as it might endanger the trainee apparently
