old joe:
I'm having a moan about the FBU not that i'm a fire fighter but credit where credit is due.

The FBU moaned about Hertfordshire Fire & rescue Service for being inadequtly ill prepaered for a fire of this scale PR#T

2-3 day's to put out a major fuel fire of that size well FBU shall we critisise the late great Red Adair for taking so long to put out Piper Alpha or the devils cigarette lighter or the other major petroluem fires around the world or the fire fighters who tackled the blaze at chernobyl.

The chief fire officer played a good hard fight on his patch and won and there was no loss of life and seeing as the chief fire officer lost 2 firefighters to flat fire earlier this year i raise a glass to them all the expert's as well the normal fire fighter's who put there lives on the line for us remember they go in when other people run out.

we can't be prepared for every eventuality and lesson's will be learn't  that will help reduce risk in the future and around the world.

Perhaps the guy from the union would like to go back on the run and see what the job is realy like or does like his job in is ivory tower to much to get his hands dirty.

whinge finished

Agreed, after the initial blast, loss of life should be the top priority, I imagine no fire service has the facilities to deal with a job like that

They can loose a life in a house fire, let alone a major disaster

They did good to do what they did

Dave:
I think they did a brilliant job and they did it safe "BIG RESPECT"

yer auld aunt nelly:
Greatest "respect" where due to those guys.
But no amount of back stabbing the good guys is going to hide the question of how this place was built where it was and how it was.
So that all of this (the fire) was even possible!
  There thats my 2p worth

dave_2A_2.25Turbo:
They could never have been prepared for that.  The place would have 'in house'  facilities anyway, but no-one could plan properly for something of that magnitude
