HELP.... 90 turning but not fireing??
BigA:
--- Quote from: "Steel" ---I've read on some other forums, on certain diesel fuel pumps, you can have the problem of air leaking in if the engine isn't run for a few days. But if the vehicle is used almost daily, the amount of air that leaks in is barely going to make a differane on start up.

i generally use it every day, just SWMBO had me doing other stuff this weekend, so out with her. I made the mistake of mentioning that the 90 was running well at the moment about a week ago, so i should not be surprised it has packed up.
The fuel pump was replaced about 6 months ago, i gave it a pump earlier, their was no pressure at all, don't think that is right?
bye the time the battery is re-charged will be dark, so i will have the added fun of trying to bleed in the dark.
oh i love my Landy :?

simple thing, but have you tried using the heater plugs for 15 seconds before u start it.. my mates TD wont start if he doesnt use them.. and it just sits there making white smoke!
The smoke coming from the exhaust should mean that there is diesel getting into the cylinders, so ur stop solenoid should be working

OK, i bled the diesel system, checked solenoid, whilst it was off i thought hey ho, lets replace it (after all i have replaced about everything else  ), put battery back on, and after some serious winding it started :P
now...... took it for a quick spin.... a bit jumpy at start, so thought, yep, probably air in fuel?, blockage? something like that, but soon settled down to usual, smoothish drive. Parked up, tried starting a few times and all OK.
left it for about an hour, and just on the curious side went out and tried it again, few seconds on the heater plugs, and started (best since i have owned it). Turned off a few times and restarted, all it seems was ok?? then switched off, took key out, and it was still running?? put key back in and switched on and off again, and it stopped. after further testing it did this a couple of more times????
what is going on :?: :?
