HELP.... 90 turning but not fireing??
BigA:
went out to my 90 2.5TD this morning, not used it since Friday, and it wont start? turning over OK, white smoke coming from exhaust as usual, but just wont fire.
quarter of a tank of diesel, checked fuel getting to filter, and draining from their OK, fitted new starter a couple of weeks ago, so turning over OK?
flattened battery, not sure about the battery anyway, but been starting OK up until now (positive terminal hot when i removed it, melted the vaseline?) now on charge.
Any suggestions greatly welcomed??

Have you bled the system? Air in the fuel system will make it a hard time for the diesel engine to fire up.
lit'l hobbit:
IM SURE YOU COULD RULE OUT THE BATTERY IF ITS TURNING OVER

no just looking that one up, been some time since i had to do it? but will give it a go, once the battery is charged again?
fingers crossed

I've read on some other forums, on certain diesel fuel pumps, you can have the problem of air leaking in if the engine isn't run for a few days. But if the vehicle is used almost daily, the amount of air that leaks in is barely going to make a differane on start up.
