hey up!

What tyre pressures are best for playing in the mud? Im running 195/80/15 greenway machos on my zuki. max pressure is 34psi, and ive been as low as 28psi on my crappy old tyres. just wanted to know what the rest of you are doing! dont fancy knackering my new ones, but i want maximum performance without popping the tyres off the rim.

On my Jimny std pressures are 24 psi. I run 215/80-15 Colway MT tyres at 20psi on the road and as low as 16psi if its realy muddy. Managed to climb a mud slop that a friend with Anaconda's couldn't get up!

same here, 18psi on and off road, would lower it if conditions were bad.

Right then, i think ill try 20psi this weekend. I assume the tyres dont pop off the rim too easily at these kind of pressures? cos that would ruin a good day out  :(

Start dropping much below 14psi and you may start to run into problems, or if you run low pressure and drive agressivley. One other thing to remeber is make sure you have the right rim width for the tyres you want to fit. Try fitting big fat tyres on standard, narrow rims and then try running realy low pressure you will be more likely to loose a tyre.

I used to run 215 Macho's on my 410 at 15psi, no problems either on or off road.  :)

The (american) off road bible says
' measure height from floor to bottom of wheel rim. Lower tyre pressure until you get to 3/4 of that height'
Seems a pretty good indicator.

True, I have the Anacondas. They were at street pressure, but not gripping. Annoyed....Oh yes
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

Yep 20 psi is what I put in my 205/75 Colway MT's fitted to my Sammy. The garage that fitted them put 28psi in them, boy was that an entertaining drive home....EEK !!. :shock:

Its a good idea to remember the fact -if you have an accident on road with under inflated tyres your insurance is void -not only that its downright dangerous to be driving on the road with less than 20lbs pressure , go with the manufactures reccomended presh , i have a inbuilt commpressor and (air down to 15 on deep mud ) then air up for the drive home, Better safe than!!!!!!!!

Your insurance isn't void if your tyres are under inflated - but if the insurance company or accident assesor could prove that 'running under inflated' tyres was a direct contributing factor of the accident then they may reduce any payout. If you are running over size none standard tyres - again the insurance company may try to avoid paying out in full - this is a grey area, but as long as the vehicle coplies with the Law and any mods that affect performance or value are declared all claims should be honoured.

Tyre pressure is important and should be correct for the use but they are not set in stone. Be sensible. Low pressure off road would allow the tyre to become too hot at speed on the road so could cause tyre failure. Having said that if you run 'over size tyres you should be able to run lower pressure as its the volume of air in the tyre that controls the temp. I wouldn't run much below 20 psi on the road on mine for every days use but when I put in the recommended presure the car feels like its running on marbles.

    Sorry Matey  but its ILLEGAL to run your car with under inflated tyres!!! I have been Fined for it the charge is Useing a tyre in a Dangerouse condition,  therefore if its illegal then the insureance company wont pay out in the event of an accident!!!.  usually a BLOWOUT,

LandRoger tyre pressures are all related to weight of the vehicle and size of the tyre. If you running stock tyres then stick to the recomended pressures, if you go to oversize tyres, you may need to alter the pressures that you run at on the road.
An over inflated tyre can be as dangerous as an under inflated one.

I found that my sammy with oversize tyres was happy with about 18psi on the road, it passed mot no problem running at these pressures, go over 20psi and the tyres didnt have as much grip.

Is there a Tyre on the market thats OVERINFLATED at 20lbs ???????dont think so, when was the last time an MOT tester checked tyre-pressures?

Makes no difference with the Anacondas, overinflated, underinflated, running flat, handles like crap whatever you do with em!! :lol:

If you have a blow out and subsequently have an accident how do your insurance company know what pressure you were running ? Tyre pressure is manufacturer's recommendation, not law. Any copper tries to do you, take him to court!

 Because while your laying on the side of the road BLEEDING, The nice traffic cop will test your other 3 tyres for pressure+ general condition and then charge you with driving with a tyre in a danderous condition, (ie) under manufacterers recomended pressure, and probably contributing to an accident,

Id not run them everyday, and that is saying something for me! In goopy mud they are the dogs, but on the road, an emergency stop will leave you facing in another direction. I drive with lots of care and pre planning when Ive got em on. Compared with Colway MT's, Ive yet to see much benefit.......

When i had my Jimny i allways used Colway MTs , then i was offered some alloys with Greenway Macho;s they were great in mud not bad on road, overall the COLWAYS are hard to beat price/performance wise,

i run my 33 kumhos at 30psi on the road.
off road 20psi.
suzuki vitara on hilux axles with leaf springs.
35/13.50 mudzilla's
snorkel
twin t cases.
twin ramsey 8000 winches.
procomp e3000 shocks with 14" of travel.
