Dual NATO Hitches
« on: October 31, 2005, 12:52:50 »
I spotted this 110 at the 'HCVS' at the National Coal Mining Museum.

Can anyone suggest a valid reason for doubling up on NATO hitches, as surely the trailers that require one will at the very least run at cross-member height :?

I know that the spare wheel blocks access to the cross-member mounted hitch, but that's not an insurmountable problem (just use a spacer, as used on the drop-plate)

I'm sure (just out of interest) that the number plates had 'Crook Brothers' (of Hoghton, Lancashire) on them

Unless he has a second trailer with a sankey hitch on, Been thinking on doing that with the car trailer, but want one with the hydraulic brake system on though

The top one might be missing the handle to make it fit under the wheel?  Like you say all NATO trailers have a common running height so they will suite a variety of vehicles.  The NATO hitch is useless for plant trailers too so I can't see the point, I'd have fitted a D-B 'pinball wizard', in fact I have :)

I presume you know of Crook bros then?

Take it off then, or refit the spare tyre to the bonnet mount?

Oh yes, I almost bought a 90 from there, a long time ago. I've also been to the British round of the World Outdoors Trials Championship when it was held at Hoghton Tower (practically next door)

Yes it prob will, but seen a couple of units down anchor before, so might go on a hunt round to see if they have any in at the mo

Plus anything else that might look interesting
