Need new tyres for the SJ!
« on: October 30, 2005, 17:32:50 »
Right im after some new tyres but im not too sure what would suit me best.

Ive got a budget of about 200-300 quid, going to be doing some offroading but they need to be good for day to day use too.
Im also a sucker for looks, so as wide as possible please  :D
My rims are just the standard Suzuki pepperpots (15s I think)

Get a 2 inch or thereabouts lift kit, a set of grand vitara steel wheels, and then You have the pick of Landrover size tyres(cheap as chips and loads of choice)(ie 16x7 wheel size)

Ive found Colway MT to be the best all rounder by far, dont get anything too extreme if you are gonna use on the road regularly.

I cant see any reason why the 215 tyres wouldnt fit, just make sure they dont hit the front bumper support bar(if they do, cut a bit off)
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

I had a set of 215/15 on my standard 410 ,then with a 2.5" lift I had 205/16 with LWB GV rims and 30mm spacers. Have a look at my gallery whadden (215/15's) stibbertoft (205/16's)

I've only run those 2 sizes on my 410, the 205/16's were big enough for my bog standerd engine, carb 410 .

Is there a noticable difference looks wise from 205/15s to 215/15s?

the 215/15 should be about an 1.5" taller than the 205/15 but that's only the casing size the deeper the tread size the taller the tyre.  My 205/16's should be 28.9" but measured a true 30.5" when mounted on the rim they are a diamond pattern with I think it was 20mm of tread when new.

I have some 7" alloys for sale if you are interested..... We were going to put them on the SJ but the old rust got the better of it and we now have a '90
If I could only find some mud to play in, I would be as happy as the preverbial pig!!!
