Split Charge Done!
barmiebrumie:
That diagramme makes it look so easy  , thanks for that,
John.
Damonski:
Hi!
Yes, mine is setup identical to http://www.kampenwagen.co.uk/images/Split_charge_relay.gif except Im using proper thick battery cable (jump lead sort) and 80amp fuses and a 180amp relay.
The cable and relay I got at the Peterborough event, the 80amp fuses and holders from a local car audio shop.
Was trying to get out there today to get some things moved over to it, but the rain has put a hold on anything happening. This weekend Ill be down in Birmingham at the DOC club halloween and bonfire party :D

can i use 4 gauuge power cable to run from the batteries as i have about 20' feet of this as i have just removed a 1500 watt system from the car?
i also have the fuse holders and battery terminals as well-just the relay to get .
thanks
Budgie:
I think I'd stick to normal battery cable, that's produced to deal with the loads involved, just to be on the safe side. ;)
It depends on the ampage draw on the cable more than the wattage rating.
All of the battery feed cables on mine are the same size, if not slightly larger, as the original feed from the alternator to the main battery.
Damonski:
Hiya,
I used the audio style fuse holders and 80amp fuses, but used normal battery cable for the wiring feeds.
Ive also used one of the shark installation battery clamps to allow various positive takeoff's rather than piling a load of ring terminals onto the clamp.
