That is usually the best way. The problem with any sort of issue like this, especially where no accord has been made between parties and there is any mention of legal action, is that there is a danger the club can be drawn into things. If one of the published comments turns out to be libellous then we get it in the neck.
The biggest issue is that it is all too easy to misinterpret what happens on forums like this, in exactly the way you did with your first post... then things tend to spiral away with all sorts of opinion being added... all well and good, but in cases where there are issues in contention, it helps no-one.
I would say, in cases of specific issues, it is easy enough to say...
"If a company says this, and that happens... where do I stand ?"
It is possible to do this without naming names.
In the specific case of these tyres, both parties were told what was going on and why, and both parties were told that we were happy to hear the outcome of the situation provided it was presented in a factual way without the need for hearsay, etc.
Just to make something quite clear, because the tone of your (BRO) post did niggle me a bit. We are not dictated to by any supplier.. if opinion is posted here which is fair and factual it will be left. In situations of contest or ongoing discussion between parties, we will take a judgement call based on how it will affect the club. That is our primary concern.
BRO:
Sorry Tim :( Didn't mean to 'niggle' you.
I know you and the team have a big job managing a forum like this. I appreciate you hard work and do not wish to insult anyone here...
Cheers
Mick
