(Bit of background first)

Due to my (seemingly eternal :roll:  :wink: ) on-going quest to exchange my Discovery for a County Station Wagon, I've been enquiring about insurance.

Not decided, I'd really like a 110, but SWMBO reckons a 90 (as seen here)
'Now There's A Coincidence'
'Could I Be Lucky?'

As I've just had to renew my policy, I asked them (Adrian Flux) to quote for a 1998 'S-plated' 90Tdi CSW.
The approximate figure quoted was around £220.
However, the actual company quoting that figure insists on a Thatcham Cat. 1 alarm

Now, the real point of this is;
1.Can anyone recommend a specific system for a 90/110
2. Will it offer a (future) interface for central door locking (Maplins kit?)
3. Approximate costs
4. What standard does the LR fitted item (if installed) reach?

Thanks in advance of replies

Richard,

I've just had this with my 110 (now insured through Greenlight - nice one Barry !), the insurers insisted that the vehicle had a minimum of Cat2 (immobiliser) fitted. Now, my 110 came with a factory-fit LR alarm/immob - but it's not listed on the insurers database, so it has to be assumed that it is not built/tested to Thatcham Cat1/2 spec. Therefore I've just forked out a few beer tokens to have a very nice man fit an approved (Cat2) device to the beast - it's actually a piece of pee to fit an immob, but you need to be certificated/certified (!!!!) in order for the insurers to accept the install.

BTW - the Disco also has a factory-fit alarm, and that is listed on the insurers database......but according to my policy they reckon its only a Cat2 device !
