The real point of the post was the strictly legal point of whether the plate simply has to be the same year identifier, or had to have first been issued after the intended vehicles date of registration.

So, we all agree, it's the same year identifier..

I thought you were meaning ARE both legal, rather than both ARE (already) legal.

As others have said, if the Defenser should be an S reg (or newer) then you can transfer your plate no problems at all.
