Help with 5 or 3 Bearing Crank

(1/2) > >>

Miniman:
I have a series 3 diesel which has had a engine change and I was wondering if there is any visible way of looking to see if it's a 3 or a 5 bearing crank.

stratie:
5 bearing has the oil filler on the rocker cover, 3 bearing has the oil filler coming out the side of the engine block (drivers side)

stratie:
5 Bearing has an orange oil filler (that you undo buy hand) that sit's in front of the one in the pic.

hobbit:
that count for the diesel as well then?

stratie:
Diesel...um....er.......i didnt read that bit
Ok let's start again, 2 of my mate's have s3 diesel landy's, and they are both 5 bearing motors. The only thing that stand's out is the engine block's are red.
Not sure if all 5 bearing diesel motor's are red  :?:
But i know a man who doe's, i'll go and ask him.
