Unfortunately there are allot of people who make allot of money and a living out of making fraudulent claims and the insurers have to protect themselves against this.

It would be allot cheaper for the insurer to get the car repaired as soon as possible and get it all out of the way to stop having to deal with further compensation and other charges, unfortunately they need time to assess the claims validity, the cover and any possible indemnity issues.

I know I do not want to be stuck without a car for ages if mine gets damaged, it would annoy me.
