I'm in the process of fitting a 300tdi engine onto a 200tdi chassis & I need to know the exact position the engine mounting points need to be moved to  . Can anyone help :?:
Thanks guys

They are the same arent they?

I think you'll find the 2.5 to 300 where all the same?

Be curious to find out if they are different.  Ive got a template for 300tdi mounts that bolts to the chassis.  I'm hiring it out if you fancy it.  Cost me nearly £50 but BOY does it make it easy!!!!  If you wnat it you can hire it for £10 and I'll post it out to you just send it back when your done mate.  If you want it, PM me your details

Nope....

2 1/4, 2.5 (petrol and diesel), 2.5 Td and 200Tdi all have the same engine mounts in the same place.

300Tdi, Td5 (and V8') are different...

Engine and box was moved 2" further forward when the R380 was fitted... and the mounts are different.

Thanks Landyman for your kind offer but I was hoping to start tomorrow so I won't have time to wait for the post, but thanks again, you're a gent.

Porny, do you mean that the engine mounts were moved towards the bulkhead, as I've measured up & according to me thats the way it needs to go, but I don't know by how much. Are the 2 inches you mentioned an actual measurement?

Thanks fellas
Jeff

The engine and box were moved 2" away from the bulkhead....i.e. the engine was moved closer to the radiator, which in turn moves the gearbox forwards.

However, this AFAIK is not actual measurements...
Although the engine and box were moved forward, I'm not sure of the relative position the mounts on either the engine or the gearbox... I seem to remember that the 300Tdi also has a different gearbox cross member.

I'd personally give Richards Chassis, or Marsland or even Buryas Bridge ring.  Richards and Marshland both produce 300Tdi replacement chassis, and Buryas Bridge carry out numerours 300Tdi conversions.

I've spoke to Buryas Bridge and Richards Chassis in the past and found them both more than helpful.

The other place you could try is M&D who landyman1978 has already mentioned.

I know that you can mount the R380 box on the LT77 chassis mounts, if you take the mountings off the LT77.  You could then weld the engine mounts to the chassis to suit.

However, this will mean your engine will sit further back than standard, which results in you having to modify hoses, oil cooler pipes, exhaust etc etc to fit.

Sorry I can't be of any help.

If anyone's doing the same, you need to leave the g.box mounts where they are & move the engine mounts back by about 45 mm.
cheers
