Oh Dear the Trucks in bits again.
« on: August 30, 2005, 14:35:15 »
Hey Guys,

Thought I'd give u an update seeing as I haven't been on for a while...

The Truck has been to a few Pay and Play Events and had its ups and downs.

Problems:

MOT is 3rd October !!!
Needs Wheel Arches
Rear Nearside Brake Cylinder Leaking Badly!
Needs new Brake Caliper (Currently Running two different front calipers!)
Windscreen Wiper Broken
Will Not Start of its own accord! Used to just click... Now won't even do that! Works fine when bump started.

Any Ideas as I need to get it all sorted ASAFP

Dave

Oh Yeah, Used the winch for the first time in anger.... Awesome...

Well, the obvious thing with this is to make sure the battery is in good nick, and that the terminals are all tight and clean.   Also, check your earth strap connections to the engine / chassis / battery.

Yeah tried putting jump leads to all over the starter, body and engine back to the negative terminal nothing. Its just had a brand new battery from good old Halfords because I originally thought it was the battery as well. Must be the actual motor so i've got one off ebay for £15. I know the terminals are clean and tight because it attached the winch to them a while ago.

And I've tried having the winch off no difference.

anyone know where I can get free wheeling hubs for a vitara cheap. That solves the bearing problem. I really can't be arsed to have the axle off again so i'll just wait till next time it snaps lol then change the bearing as well. sourced some parts cheap for the brakes but its getting time to get it done lol.

I have found the clicky starter motor is usally crap in the solenoid, preventing a good electrical circuit.

Remove the solenoid from the stater motor and wash out with WD40 or contact cleaner.
You can put a test meter accross the power terminals and manuall operate the solenoid, you should see the resistance drop when terminals are clean.
Failing that, buy a new solenoid  most auto electrical places should be able to get them, they're not very expensive.

BTW  Milner off road, the jap car spares, dont deal with suzuki parts :(mad):

Cheers

Steve

Yeah I knew about Milner anyway... Its a shame because they do quality parts for daihatsu's etc.

Yeah got a list going... gunna give him a ring. Bidded on a complete new starter for a tenner on ebay so all good there.

I'll let you all know how it goes.
