Where do you put your CB
« on: August 15, 2005, 21:03:25 »
Hi, i've finally got around to getting a CB.  I can't find anywhere to mount it except maybe bolted to the underside of the dash near the handbrake.  Where do you all put yours?

Bloody LandRovers, theres nowhere to put owt!

I shelf fitted behind my head across the width of the car in the roof. The CB is mounted on here. Works really well and have an on/off switch on the dash. The mic hangs down by my right ear.

Ive got mine mounted down the bottom of the dash infront of the handbrake, made some angle brackets to bolt it flush against the dash and never had a problem, also its handy to run wires into the fuse box to pick up an ignition live.

In the 90 it is in the cubby box with a satalite speaker behind my right ear mounted on the bulkhead.

In the 110 I made a roof console where it lives with the stereo

same for me - the starter kit from thunderpole has the right brackets so it will mount flush.

I have a bracket that will mount it under the dash by the handbrake, that is the easiest I think.  I was just checking in case i'd missed somewhere obvious.

Ta for that :)

I have a radio mounted under the dash in front of the handbrake, the only problem I have found with mounting it here is if your aren’t careful it is quite easy to skin your knuckles on the back of the radio, I have one of those square plastic radio brackets from eBay.

IMHO it's the place, ther's easy access to power as DIL mentioned and aerial cables can be routed under the dash making it look neater.

I've got a real nice diddy one about the size of 2 fag packets from the CB shack at lymm services. it's fixed to the bottom of the dash to the left of the gear lever..  it's out of the way and being so small and light it has taken some serious knocks off-road, and never moved. Only needed two small screws.

Cost £70.00 and works for miles!

We have a truck cab 90 and have cable-tied the CB bracket to the left hand air vent. It holds the CB fine and allows easy removal. I do think we will probably move it when (and if) we get a hard-top in the future
If I could only find some mud to play in, I would be as happy as the preverbial pig!!!

I have mine mounted on front of cubby box , the wireing needs to be routed so its not near any other wireing-for best reception , the antenna is mounted above the back door  and the cable is routed under side window and into the rear of cubby box.  its ok mounting behind -above head untill you have an impact  and it breaks free to crack your head open,  ooochie.
