fitting a r380 to a 200 tdi
Andy.:
Can I ask why people would put a different gearbox in, are they better units :?:
seph234:
well i see it that if land rover changed to the r380 on the later ones it must be better, otherwise why change from the lt77 and from driving my mum and dads 300tdi disco the box feels a lot smoother than my 200tdi with the lt77 in it or it might be that mine has double the miles on it  but i thought if the r380 fits il try it :D
strangerover:
From what I have been told by leggs, if the R380 was from a Diesel then it will fit a 200TDi if the R380 was from a V8 you need to change the input shaft and bell housing... so I'm told... unfair as I have a R380 for a V8
seph234:
well i started it tonight i have the box out and the the new clutch is fitted so far so good i have modified the hole where the handbrake cable goes through and have taken the electronic speedo off of the new box ready for my 200tdi speedo cable. fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow morning and it should be back up and running by lunch time :D
thermidorthelobster:
I'm not sure if the R380 is particularly a better box - they tend to snatch into second, but apart from that it doesn't seem to drive much different to an LT77. But R380s seem to last longer.
