Naughty Vitara....

Right I have been having some problems with my vitara lately. Basically its been on ramps for about two weeks argh.

Now, I have changed the two front brake calipers, pads and Fluid, plus added some extended braided hoses. I left the brake wedged on to hgelp bleed the system over night and in the morning bled up the brakes and they were fine. Unfortunatly, the battery decided to run down (brake lights) and will not hold charge anymore.

I tried to jump start the car and all i could get was a dull click from the starter motor. I thought it must be the battery (it is quite old, 1997 i think). The Car will start fine on a bump start.

Installed a brand new battery and still all i get is this dull click when i turn the key. I have well and truely caned all money now so was wondering whether anyone has had this problem and knows a quick fix for it.

Have you checked your wiring and earth. I know the SJ's and sammys have a starter problem if you search on google for suzuki clicky starter fix it might solve your problem.

AS Gary says, try a jump cable to the engine from the negative pole.

Yeah should have thought about that really...

I've had a play with it but I didn't do that. I'll give it a go tonight.

I have the same problem with my SJ sometimes. I find a goos squirt of WD40 on the starter sorts it out. If you go onto www. suzukiclubuk.com and have a look in the DIY section, there is an artical on fitting a starter fixer. Don't know if it will help, but worth a look.

Well i tried everything and the thing wouldn't work... So now gunna replace the starter motor. As far as i can see that is the problem, cheers lads
