Well a company that produces/adapts that environmental disaster; the 2CV.

I was browsing an old copy of 'Practical Classics' early this morning that was hiding under the bed.

Inside it was a feature on the 'Tin-Snail'

Apart from the nutters who rally them, race them (for 24hours!!) & basically love them.
One stood out (basically because it was taller)

yes I do know that Citroen produced their own derivative; the Sahara.
They look like fun though

Look where gallery 2 & 3 were taken

£4900 for the kit, plus a decent 2cv and engine.  When it's finished it's still a b****y 2cv.

And £900 for a diff locker?  Ã‚£50 each for M&S tyres

Oh and then there's the shoppingt list, Xzantia callipers, 2 pairs of front arms etc etc.

Think I'll stick to the green oval, especially after today.  Another tonne and a half of ballast from the builder's merchants and that's after the 3 tonnes of topsoil I carted away to my sister's yesterday.

Interestingly, there was an original Sahara entered on this years Dakar Rally!

They had to get special dispensation from the FIA to run as usually a car is only allowed one engine! A massive 1200cc in total and about 100hp.

Whilst it was never going to challenge the likes of Mistisbishi, Nissan or VW for honours, it lasted a lot longer than some serious pieces of machinery.

.....and it looked magnificent!

Maybe they'll be back, I hope so.

cheers
