Original Landrover Radio
joe90:
Im thinking of removing my old original Discovery Radio/tape and replacing with a nice CD Radio. Is there anything i should know or do all standard radios fit the hole in the dash!
Ive heard a roumer that only shorter radios fit due to the depth of the dash board - is this true, and if so how much room is there to play with.
TimM:
I think the 'short' radio problem only relates to the 200's which mount the radio down near the transfer lever, I have a 300 which mounts it in the dash like a 'normal' car, I have an aftermarket kenwood fitted in mine (it was it when I got it so I've no idea how complicated it was to get in).
I've seen on eblag convertors to change discovery stereo leads into the ISO standard that most people use, but I'd have a look in there first before shelling out any ££ (they were quite cheap though).
Good luck,
Tim.
Dave:
I think you are right Tim i put a sony mini disc player in my 200 it was very tight for the cables but it did go in.
gords:
My Discovery 300 (M) has a new/recent Blaupunkt radio/cd/mp3 and it fits no problem. It (the Discovery) even has the latest DIN plugs/sockets so it connects straight into the standard wiring loom.
It can be a bit of a fiddle to get all the wires in though - but a lot of cars are like that
colintandy:
