It can be observed that some can be become spirituality awakened at some point in their life sometimes for a single purpose and their soul if fed and filled by the insight that there is something more. These rarely preach or impose their religion upon others - their deal is between them and God and are mostly at peace with that as the answers to their questions are revealed to them.
The truly evil are those that are awakened and turn their back and commit heinous sins. Many people never get awakened and live their life day by with no interest in such matters ever (which can be quite sad to observe in some), others keep tryng to force themselves awake but they may never be ready.
Personally I know there is a God, Jesus Christ is my saviour and a friend, I do not ram that onto others or bible bash or even attend an established church, my deal is with God and is no one else's business. I do not have all the answers to my questions and I am far from prefect in the established stereotype a Christian is supposed to be, I am far too revengeful for a start.
Maybe try praying and see if the answers to your questions about life the universe and everything get revealed? Sometimes if you seek hard enough and knock loud enough on Gods door....

Blimey, this is bit heavy for Mud Club isn't it?

I'm with the born, live, die camp. I'm open to persuasion, but I've never been convinced of any other conclusion yet. I very much respect others beliefs. I am actually very interested in religion, but just from an academic viewpoint.

As Saffy points out very well, religious belief should be a personal thing, not forced on people. Although I disagree with the point about those not having been 'awakened' being lacking in some way so as to make it 'sad to observe'.

I take the believe in yourself approach. I don't feel I need a middle man like a god to help me do that. But that is just my feelings and as I said, I fully respect those who do have religious beliefs.

Unfortunately, religion is behind many conflicts. Or, at least, it is used as an excuse for conflict. That is something I could never come to terms with and limits my ability to be convinced about the subject.

To get back to the OP......
We are all reincarnated of course. But not in the sense of a complete creature. All matter reforms as something else, it doesn't just disappear. The term 'pushing up daisies' is not just a joke. There will, potentially, be elements of your buried body in them.

Could I just say.....

This could be an emotive subject. Please would all posters think carefully before hitting the 'Post' button. If it is kept thoughtful and respectful, it could be a fascinating thread.

The Mud Club 'gods' will be watching over you and removing anything that could be deemed offensive  ;)

Interesting point on conflict.

Before the crusades all religions got on pretty well with each other, muslims living in the birth place of christianity and all that. Supprisingly it was the christians who caused all of the historic upset which we are still seeing in modern times.

I failed to put what I meant across clear enough, I see how it can be read that way. I know people who lead good lives and are essentially very happy and not a religious spiritual bone in their body but there are others that are directed into my life that are so empty, and unhappy and seeking constant council and that is sad, and their are others that are belligerent lill'tards with no respect of others believes and get all leary about it and that too is sad to witness and wish they'd have a glimpse. I usually do not debate my beliefs, I not know the answers for a start. I tell those who ask, and they can take it or leave it and I pretty much careless of what they think... selfishness another imperfection  ;)

I know what you are getting at, but just to expand a little....... surely, it is our 'imperfections' that make us what we are? If we were all short of these little differences, the world would be a very boring place. On the other hand, we might get fewer of the conflicts I previously mentioned if we all had the same beliefs and personal standards

I just know that sometimes I am aware of things in my personality I do not like to experience in other people so I seek to improve on those things for the better - one of the things within our control as humans is to change the way we are if we want to - being aware of our faults is surely a good start. Hypocrisy is another bug bear for me one and that one I pray on for help spotting and doing less of. I have no concerns that people striving to better themselves for the good is some how going to lead for a world populated with like thinking clones and become a very boring place. We always have been and always will be dynamic faultful humans but maybe we can change to just being a little more thoughtful too.

I believe our purpose here is to discuss issues around 4x4 ownership and off road driving.

When we are gone, we may live on,  in other forums or maybe just getting on with painting the gate.

Maybe we could get Mud Club established as a religion?

Our afterlife would be similar to the Vikings, with endless lanes and free fuel during the day followed by campfires, drinks, and tents which aren't pitched in mud. Next morning, you'd do it all over again!

Can we bite the heads off ramblers too, I might convert? it could be dual roll, mudclub heaven and rambler hell.
Our hell would be an endless concrete flat road with junctions passing greenlanes and play pits that have restricted byway signs and no entry barriers.

Oh yeah!

Who would we elect as high priest/priestess of the mud hole?
Could we have rambler sacrificial offerings on the rock steps?
And pilgrimages to the holyland (Salisbury Plain)?

Tricky one, I think a pretty convincing case could be made for Wales as our holy land. Think about it, we've got Strata Florida and loads of other top lanes, we'd have even more if NERC hadn't stolen them. I suspect we'll see more than a few people asking for their ashes to be scattered on Strata when they hang up their keys for good.

Why would you want to bite a rambler's head off? The silly plastic map case thingy would get stuck in your teeth!   Sacrifice sounds better, maybe with a sharpened half shaft in place of the Mayan dagger?

And there's also the thought that some people belive that the big beared cloud wizard pointed his man like finger and made everything in 7 days (although how did he know it took a day for dark and light since he hadn't made the earth and sol so there was no time scale to work against...)

The only problem with this is that accordingly on the 7th day - god said let there be light!

Think there maybe a slight clerical error inthe the early understanding of day/night principles, or does that mean when it's dark it's day time and when it's light it's night time?
