Oil Pressure things
« on: March 01, 2005, 19:37:16 »
I was off down the motorway today when the oil pressure light came on all of a sudden... So i pulled over, and as i was waiting for the AA to come i tried starting the engine again, and the oil pressure light came on at tickover but when i revved it the light went out... The longer i left the engine the quicker the light went out...

Any ideas? Its full of oil and was running at normal temp.

Your oil would smell of diesel. This would occur with your rings failing.

Is the engine oil old. Also, how old is the engine. Could be the Oil pump on its way out. You should be able to get it tested at any good garage. Im sure someone knows what it should be. :D

Never rule out that the Switch could also be failing. It is well known. But dont change the switch and ignore the fact that you could have low oil pressure. The result could be very bad. :D
