As the title...

How do I stop that irritating bleep when I open the door with the key in??

You know the score, hot day so you need the door open but still want the key in for the CD.

I've searched the wiring codes and there is a white/purple wire which is shown as "key in barrel". If I cut this wire and connect both ends to a two way switch so that I can occasionally "break" the circuit, does anyone foresee any problems?

Just in case anyones interested. I undid 2 bolts holding the main fuse box in and on the back of the fuse box is a cream coloured box with a Lucas sticker on it.
I disconnected this from the fuse box but left the wires connected to it. All the warning buzzers are now silent and as yet everything else is still working. :dance: :grin:

'Cut the black wire, Bond, I say again, the BLACK wire................'

Then tape it up as when you put the key in and the switch is 'made' the balck wire becomes live as the voltage looks for the return path to earth so leaving a bare end could get nasty..........

That is of course if the link above points you to cutting the wires at the back of the ignition switch that feed the bleep bleep machine?  I was too lazy to click on them.....
Son, life has a habit of kicking you in the ass and i only have vague recollections of when it wasn't kickin mine!

I think I cut the white one. It has yet to cause any problems although I'll probably use a bit of heat shrink to insulate it when the car comes back from the garage.
