Auto stalling???
« on: October 07, 2008, 22:31:08 »
I did a few tricky hill climbs at the weekend and my Range kept stalling, as I got to the point where I could go no more (got to have been about 80 degree slope.... honest!) and jumped from the accelerator to the brake, the engine revs died and then stalled, it did manage to catch it a couple of times and keep it running. Is there any reason for this or is it just one of those things?

Yours is EFi auto isn't it?

In which case I can't think of a reason other than fuel starvation or an oil problem :-k

Maybe you were low on fuel|?

If you were at a really steep angle, its possible the outake from the fue tank was almost clear of the fuel in the tank.

well I had over 3/4 of a tank of fuel so don't think it was that. To make it a bit clearer, it happened when I still had a fairly good amount of grip, i.e. I was working the engine hard, jumped from the accelerator to the brake, and as their was so much grip to wheels stopped almost instantaneously taking the reves from about 3500 to tic-over instantly therefor it would stall. To be fair it only happened a couple of times so I'm not too concerned just thought I would ask in case there was a known problem that could be fixed!

If it's auto you should be left-foot braking in that situation. The stall speed should be about 2,000rpm too, so that might want looking at.
