cold starts alternater squeel

somtimes when i start my jimny the what sounds like the alternater belt squeels and the power is down but as the squeel wears off when driving the noticable power returns , anyone had this

Obviously your altenator belt is slipping..I would suggest you try tighting it or replacing it...

If it has been slipping a while it may well be glazed,then it will need replacing..

Then its not tight enough! I some times get a simialr problem - tightening the belt usualy cures it, but it also could be a water pump bearing problem.

new water pump aswell , ill tighten the belt tommorow and see what happens.

I find that I have to tighten the belt more than recommended to stop the slipping, which also puts strain on the water pump, but if I set it as recommended it slips and doesn't charge as at the required rate!
