« on: December 18, 2007, 14:14:19 »
Hi ya,

I know that on the classic RR there was a wading plug for the gear box. Is there the same thing neede on the automatic Rover V8 P38?

Thanks

Get under your P38 and have a look. If it takes a wading plug then there will be a small threaded hole (about 12mm diameter) near the lowest point of the bell housing between the engine and gear box.

I would expect there to be some kind of drain hole in the bell housing. On road cars they tend to just have a small gap in the bell housing where it bolts to the engine in stead of a threaded hole.

Bottom of the bellhousing, right behind the engine..... looks like an M12 or M14 hole, normally with some fluid dripping off it ;)

It probably isn't metric, but being a young-un, imperial threads aren't easy for me to recognise yet ;)

Mudmaster is correct 1/4 bsp thread
If you look to the side there may be a square headed bolt/plug and this is where it is stored (on the classic)  8)
