Defender bulkheads on series3

Hello,
I am researching the idea of using a defender bulkhead on my series 3 in order to fix and forget some nasty rust.
This site says you need footwells and refabrication
http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/bulkhead.htm
This site just says use it and bolt it on
http://www.seriestrek.com/bulkhead.html
This thread is sort of in the middle
http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5296&view=next&sid=43d6f3607a3c071f13a0808e4c6b8d0c
"I am in the process of fitting a defender bulkhead to mine at the moment. The windscreen mounts needs altering, the holes for the brake pedal box need re positioning and you need a cut ot on the driver side foot well for the steering arm to clear. The transmission tunnel will need altering aswell to fit. Its a bit of hassle but should be worth it. No doubt there will be a few more things but i think those are the main items that need altering If you need more details let me know."
Anyone got an opinion on this, would it be easier to get repair panels for mine/or get a half decent s/hand one? I want to do this as a welding project, but dont want to end up spending a lot of time on something thats patchy.

I know a Series 2b forward controll with a defender bulkhead. The foot wells are easy to make. You can get a bender for £60 to £70 and knock them up. Made mine out of tread plate.

Hi!
Is it not easier to find a good used Series one and save the hassle?

the guy from glencoyne engineering seems to know what he's doing IMO, and he knows it... hence the price.
I plan upon trying it myself... but that will have to wait for now.

Hi,
I got a bulkhead last week for £50 just needs blasting, repainting and 1 foot well welding in (the repair plate was provided). I quite looking forward to it!
Unfortunately most of my truck needs taking appart at some stage (noticed the truck cab has a 1inch sag left to right and its not me coz im skinny)
