Words of wisdom
« on: January 05, 2005, 14:21:50 »
I heard this a few years ago on the radio, and was so struck by the sentiment of it that I e-mailed and asked for a copy:

Share everything
Play fair
Don’t hit people
Put things back where you found them
Clean up your own mess
Don’t take things that are not yours
Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody
Wash your hands before you eat
Flush
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you
Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint
and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and
stick together.
Be aware of wonder.
Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup;
The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the
Styrofoam cup - they all die.  So do we.
Remember the first word you learned from Janet and John books :
“Look!”

Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankies for a nap.

Or if all governments had a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up after their own mess.
And it is still true, no matter how old you are - when you go out into the world, it is better to hold hands and stick together.

Peace on Earth; be nice wouldn't it?
Janie.

That's actually a quote from Robert Fulghum called:

"ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN"

See his web site at http://www.robertfulghum.com/  for more details.

Aha!! I was told it was from a book, but the original e-mail from the BBC is long gone, thanks for that, I'd be interested to read more from him :)

A few more

1) Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

2) Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older,
their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

3) Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

4) When you say, "I love you," mean it.

5) When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.

6) Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

7) Believe in love at first sight.

8  Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
People who don't have dreams don't have much.

9) Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the
only way to live life completely.

10) In disagreements, fight fairly. Avoid name calling.

11) Don't judge people by their relatives.

12) Talk slowly but think quickly.

13) When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer,
smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

14) Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

15) Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.

16) When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

17) Remember the three R's: Respect for self, Respect for
others, and Responsibility for all your actions.

18) Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
When you realize you've made a mistake,
take immediate steps to correct it.

20) Always remember, a true friend is someone who
reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
The is back, but this time its got gas
