« on: June 28, 2007, 10:31:02 »
Just a quick question i got a 200 tdi defender and the front axle is fubar as of this morning  :(  just wondering if disco 1 or RRC axle will go on (ie same gearing in the diff) or do i need to get one from a 200tdi?

the axle will go on but the calipers are different so swap your calipers onto the axles,
also the track rods & draglink are different so they would need swapped over from the def axle

gearing is exactly the same

I memeory servs me corectly a 200 TDI defende still used 48mm bushes in the radius arms, which was the same as RRC axle up to 1985 (when they went EFI). Later RRC/disco and 300TDI defenders axles used a wider bush 52mm in the radius arm, so by rights if you used a later spec axle you would need the radius arms changed as well. Having said that in theory you could fit wider bushes in a narrower arm, but it's not an ideal solution.
