Disco wheels on a LR90
« on: June 25, 2007, 21:15:00 »
I bought a set of disco wheels for my drum braked 90, witthe the worries of having to file/hack the hub, took them to work tonight and they fit straight on with clearance.  The little 17mm bolts are about 500thou" clear and theres a gap between the hub and the inner flange of the wheel. The wheel sits tight up against the back plate!!! No probs, has anyone elses fitted straight on, as ive heard both sides of the story!!!

it is not a noticeable problem with standard tyres but if u put bigger on you realise the alloy is not sittin flat and will wobble or is restin on about a mm of alloy and the slightest knock will make the wheel sit wonky. the best way to slove this is to get spacers the chepest option is ones for boy racers they are only about 3mm but it gives you the clearance! otherwise you are looking at 300 for lr spacers :(
the rear sit fine as the thickness of the hub case takes up the 3mm :) hope this helps

I've heard conflicting things, from taking a little off the insides of the alloy with a grinder to removing the spring washer from the drive member bolts.

I tried fitting the front end of a 200TDi to Blue ans gave up in the end, the driveshafts stuck out through the wheel and they were definitely not tightening on to the flange.

Ive got mine on now, the rears went on no problems, the fronts needed the spring washers removing and loc-tited but they fit on fine, yeah OK the centre caps dont fit on the front but I have a cunning plan
