hi guys havent been online for a while bac on now tho missed mudclub i hav been offered a h reg disco thats had a 300 tdi put in but the gearbox has gone i was thinking of taking the engine out and the back axle of it and put them in my defender but my defender already has 200 tdi in that is fine but drum brakes on the back do uses think it would b worth putting it in or sticking to my own engine its is going very very cheap the disco tho would i see a difference in speed and torque if i put it in and help please  :D

Allot of effort for no gain..apart fro disc braked rear axle!  No difference between the two engines imho.  Although some people will say different.

Break the disco & buy toys for the 90  :twisted:
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

You could alwas sell me the defender nice and cheap (im just the other side of sunny st helens) and rebuild the disco for yourself?  no?  Thought not! lol

300 for me any day as all 200s are now getting long in the tooth

psssssssssssht! tdi=underpowered and slow get a td5 like me! An engine that actually uses less oil than fuel:D Now td5 is the way forward

scuse me....since when have tdi's burnt oil  :shock:

my 200's ive never had put oil in between oil changes  :shock:

and peh.....td5.....nahhh 2.8 HPT iveco engine  :wink:  rips a new rear end for a td5 std format to std format  :wink:

ahhh but your not disagreeing the fact that they are slow and underepowered! :P  And as for the iveco theory, it is a 2.8 after all! x

even so... the 5 cyl vw tdi engine has more power and torque than a td5  :wink:

and i wouldnt say the tdi is under powered when its tweaked like mine  :roll:
still enough torque to snap halfshafts like twigs and blow cv's on road  :wink:

Td5 is the way forward,closley followed by a 2.8 300tdi chased up by a standard 300

a td5, so nerr wetted on your fire  :twisted:

so mike....if td5 is the way forward, which IMO it is too as they are superb engines and are nowt be scared of...why you not fitting one  :lol:
