RRC EAS ECU RESETTING

Can anyone point me in the right direction of getting my EAS ECU reset.
The N/S front bag exploded while playing in the muddy stuff Sunday.
Managed to get it 3miles from home driving on front bump stops when the rear dropped too making a mess of the rear N/S tyre.
I have changed the damaged bag,reconnected the ECU and switch under drivers seat..but the EAS up and down switches are both illuminated and it not pumping up..
I have been told this is due to the ECU going in safe mode?????
Anyway i'm in the essex area if anyone can help. :(

Any decent garage should have a rovacom or some such that can read the fault log and reset it. Wouldn't imagine it'd be much more than £50 as long as that's all they're doing.

I'd stay away from Land rover Stealerships... aside from the way they'll look down their noses at you... they also charge an arm and a leg!

Have you got a local 4x4 specialist...?

I'm not sure if there any 4x4 specialists in my area will have to search around..
They won't need to have the car aswell as the ECU will they only it's not drivable...????

Let me get this right, it was fine before the bag burst and now, having repaired the bag,  it's locked in safe mode.

Before you drive it anywhere check that it's still got it's bump stops.

If all that needs doing is the faults clearing then technically it could be swaped to another car and the faults cleared on that one, or you could fit a second hand ECU to yours and then take it to be recallibrated.

But generally the ECU needs to be in the car.

Unfortunately unplugging the ECU won't clear the faults.

But you can unplug the ECU and manually run the pump with a jump wire, then open the inlet valve and each corner valve to get it off the floor.

Does the pump run at all?

It were ok before sunday(although it had started to lean alittle beforehand on the corner mentioned when left for afew hours).But that were due to the faulty bag.I hope..
No the pump doesn't work now..
Where are the valves located etc..If I can raise it manually at least I can use...or can I????? :)

Noticed you are in Essex, give this lot a call tlm landrovers 01255 830 331, they are in Tendring in North Essex.

If you can get the pump to run then you will have some air in the tank, then you can open the valves to let that air into the airbags.  Disconnect the ECU under the driver's seat and connect the the wiring plug with fly leads.

Ok, I've never done this myself as I own Rovacom, but it is possible.

How and what wires do I use to connect to the ECU plug..
Also where is the pump and valves..
As you can see i'm not familiar with all this..  :lol:  :lol:

Ok the pump and vlave block are in a box under the car, below your bum :wink:

Thought he pump sounds like it's in the back right?

The ECU is under your seat and if you disconnect the plug to it I understand you can jump acrross the pins to run the pump and open the valves you need, though I havn't done it myself.

You would need the wiring diagram.

Alternatively on flea-bay there are manual inflation kits sold for P38, so you can use a tyre inflator to directly infalte each corner.  These kits will also fit the classic, they cost around £70 though :o

yeah i've seen those manual inflation kits for P38 but didnt think they would fit the classic.
Are they pretty simple to fit and would it be a temperary fix or could it be left like that and sort of by passing the pump:?:  :?:  :?:

No pain mate, if you don't ask and all that.

The pipe used is standard 6mm plastic air hose, I'm very confident that the same hose was used on the P38.  All the LR did was have it formed into shape.

You cut the plastic pipe, they suggest within the air box so that the unions are protected from dirt and plug the cut ends into either side of a T peice.

The 3rd conn to the T peice goes to a Shreader valve as I understand, a car tyre valve.

Tape measure and patience, don't inflate too high and don't connect to an industrial compressor.

The fittings are as good as the ones used in the valve block and on each spring, I see no reason why you cannot leave them there for good.

P.S. the connections to the valve block can be reached 9by someone with ET's fingers) through the little access panel on the side of the EAS control box under the RH side of the car.  It's easier to remove the panel than the whole box. All the pipes go into plugs on the valve block which is colour coded, the pieps should have a coresponding coloured tape.

one more thing you said they suggest to cut pipe near the air box......where is the air box :?:  :oops:  :lol:

Sorry, I meant the EAS unit box under the car, the one with the little hole in it (see above).

Nothing says you can't install them near each spring.
