Beleive the block is and its just the head that isnt. I may be wrong though.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

hi all,
we're still looking for a reasonable condition/priced engine for our poorly little vit. will consider just an engine block so long as its 8 valve. (no one will confirm if the 16v block is the same)

The blocks are the same .
(G16A was listed for the 8 valve and G16B for the 16 valve,  my 8 valve and my 16 valve engines have all been G16A`s)
The valve cutouts in the pistons are obvously different though.
I have got a set of oversize 8 valve pistons that have done nearly nothing <1k from rebuild to strip. (I needed the block for a 16 valve project)

Charlie,
I just remembered there is an 8 valve carb model in a swb soft top standing outside my workshop with a headgasket or head problem.

sorry Charlie its my spares department, I dont want to sell it all. I just know that I`ll break something and need it as soon as I get shot of it.

If you get a G16 block you can fit either 16 or 8 valve pistons as long as they are the same size either std or oversize. I am using a block that came in an 8 valve swb with 16 valve pistons and head

Charlie, £100 if you fetch it out.
If you live in Leeds Yorkshire though, Ebay item 320061604814 is only half the distance to collect and not unreasonable

Silverlake Garage have two in right now, do a search for them on Google. Both engines looked sound.
