I am currently a member but I dont think I will be renewing. Enjoyed the Powys bash last year. Frank controls the forum with an 'iron hand'. To my taste, the forum is a little dull (its also the only forum I have had posts deleted from. I broke a forum rule about 'advertising' other clubs and the other post was deleted because it was "rubbish") but the forum isnt the whole club.

I'll echo Bobs comments  - I'm in a quandry also as to renew or not, as I've made some damn good friends with a certain usually tight fisted part of the country thats only about 30 miles from me :lol: . If it wasnt for these people I'd probably not renew :evil: Depends what you want out of the forum - its very good for technical advice as this one is - it just doesnt have the banter that this one does :wink:

Mmmm :?  :?

Obviously the 2 main reasons for joinng are;
1. To retain an insurance discount with Adrian Flux, as renewing with the Discovery Owners Club seems a bit silly seeing as I don't have one any one more

2. To stop a 'certain' green 90 owner from asking if I've joined yet :lol:

But, I'll bear comments about the overall nature of the club & forum in mind

Have you spoken to Greenlight about an insurance quote or mentioned 'Mud-Club' when speaking to Adrian Flux?

GreenLight quoted over £150 more than Flux for the Discovery

I wasn't sure on that point, but renewal isn't until October

Like everything else, the S111, 90/110 has it's good points and bad.  I've made a lot of good friends through it over the years. :D   That's why I'm still in.  I also have to be a bit discreet. :wink:

i joined a few months ago,not been off roading with any of them yet,but the people ive meet are ok,and sheffield pub met is only 3miles away for me

i would agree with the others regarding the way the forum is run
but think you will find a more relaxed approach at local club level

p.s i get a discount on my insurance from adrian flux by mentioning mud-club

cheers kevin

I was in it for a while and one of my mates is the local club rep for Worcstershire.

However I got a bit fed up of the politics on the forums as others and would rather post on here!

Having said that, the events and rallys they organise are good fun.

I've only met him twice I think.  Once briefly at Billing and down in Norfolk last year.  Had a chat with him there when he collared me. :D   Seems a gradely sort of chap.  Are you lot going to Driffield?  I intend to go on the Sunday.  Maybe we'll meet up. :roll:
