Title: Overheating?
Post by: Owen on June 23, 2005, 21:57:47
Right It seems I have a new problem! Since my ZJ got muddy at Avon Dassatt quary its been overheating. Your all saying CLEAN THE RADS, i can here you, well I done all that, and cleaned between them  all. Anyway when your revin her over 3500 around towh it heats up and the warning light comes on and it bongs at you, ease off the gas and keep the revs low and she cools down, and stays in the safe as lond as you dont rev her over about 2700. And when its get hot it spits out steam and hot water from the headertank overflow!

Any ideas?

Is the fan working properly?? Not got it clogged with mud or anything, causing it to run slower than normal...

Hi Owen, I had a similar prob with my TJ after Jeepfest on the way back I was overheating. I put the hot air blower fan on full blast and that helped get it back down till I got to a jet wash. That plus the hot air blower got me back (cooked) to Stratford and then after another 3 or 4 goes with a jet wash and ordinary garden hose sprayer, it seems to have finally sorted itself. Cheers, Richard

I know somebody who had a problem like that on a jeep cherokee - turned out the front brakes were binding!
