Title: V8 heater matrix
Post by: drmike on June 12, 2005, 20:17:41
The Range Rover heater matrix is leaking, not much but it won't get better. I'm happy to lose the heater so I can just take it out of the flow but how do I join the two pipes sticking out of the manifld that feed it?

TIA

Two ways one heater pipe from the matrix to where the other pipe enters the engine, or remove both pipes from the heater and fit a piece of pipe inside the pipes, ie like copper plumbers pipe and clamp

But the two pipes have different diameters don't they? So I can't just run one rubber pipe from the two metal pipes from the manifold - unless you know better of course!

Not really I just presumed they were the same size, whoops sorry

Can you block them off some how.

The coolant does not have to flow through them

Something like brake pipe clamps

Thanks for the offer of the heater but I have a spare I'm just too lazy to fit it! I don't mind messing about with the engine and other lumpy bits but inside there's all those little wires and stuff and I always seem to cut myself on something so I'll just freeze!

I have now joined the two pipes coming out of the manifold using the flexible hose with varying internal diameter and it seems OK on a quick test. Did you know that not only are the two pipes a different diameter but different manifolds have pipes of different diameters? I have three manifolds two the same one not the same. Good old LR.
