i have a vm 2.4 turbo diesel that smokes real bad on acceleration and under load.hot and cold,i have cleaned and checked the injectors (sprayin fine)all plugs glowing,it seems fine when over 1500/2000 revs any suggestions what to try next. :?

Dunno about these engines, but one of the common probs is usually valve stems seals
-
Rip it out and put a V8 in
-
that would be an option if i could find a carbed model cheap enough, mine still has ten months mot and four months tax too good to scrap i guess
-
Where were you when I neede you, I had a good 3.5 and couldn't give it away!

sod's law mate :(
-
What about fitting an exhaust
-
i had one till that bog pit :D :D
-
What colour is the smoke ?
Could be something as simple as timing.
-
deinately black!!!!!!have had injectors pressure tested now and been told two are duff so having new nozzles fitted .hope that cures it.can the timing move on a vm if so how do i check this???????????????
-
The injectors will help if the spray pattern is not working the fuel is just basically dripping into the chambers instead of a mist
Its not as much as the timing can move, on belted systems a worn belt will off set the timing, although I think the vm has a chain drive, more reliable
The thing might be a worn pump itself. Depending on the fuel and use of the pump will make a difference, not as common though.
See if it improves with the injectors before plunging down another path

cheers for the help and advice will see what happens when the refurbished injectors are fitted ..will report back :D
