Title: Cruise Control on '97 300TDi
Post by: robbie on May 03, 2005, 23:42:42
My cruise control sometimes just switches off and I dont know why. It has happened three times now.

It sets fine, drives for different distances then it just switches off. Then it will not work at all until I switch the engne off and then restart the car. Even then on one occasion, it still didnt work

Any ideas?? If it sounds expensive I will probably live with it

the problem i had (and keep having) with mine is the ends of the vacuum pipes seem to perish , when this happens the operation is at best intermittent, so i cut the end back and refit and it works again for a while. this despite replacing all the pipes about 6 months ago, i think the heat under the bonnet gets to themin the end.
Oh i also had a loose connection on one of the pedal switches that plagued me for a month until i found it

I will check the pipes this weekend, thanks. I did find that if it didnt work, but then pressed the 'reset' switch a few times, it then started working and has not failed since......

damned thing!!
