Hello ,my rear window demist will only come on when nothing else is being used ,any ideas ? (200tdi )

Do you know if the electrical system is stock or is the car modified? Ie is there a chance that someone has put it on a separate system at some point?

its all standard system ,it works with sidelights on but as soon as headlights are on it turns of ,new alternator and battery .
