Title: TD5 MISSING A BEAT
Post by: davidbennett on August 11, 2010, 23:06:30
Hi All.

I have a TD5 which has started to 'mis-fire'.  It started on a normal journey when I noticed the gear stick performing an unusual side to side waggle.  The engine sounds like a petrol engine when one of the spark plugs isn't firing.  There is loss of power and the sound of a missing cylinder.  When I got to our desination, I switched off and on again and the problem went away; for three days at least.  It's now back with a vengence and is now not always responding to the switch-off-and-on magic fix.  So, I'm thinking it's possibly a blocked fuel injector, faulty glow plug or the injector loom.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Cheers, David.

Oil in the injector loom, have a look at the ECU plug to see if oils got in, if it has change the engine loom inside the rocker cover. Well known to cause a misfire.

Many thanks all.

Replaced loom and cleaned oil from ECU.

All back to normal now.

Which bright spark thought of that design feature????!!!

Cheers, David.
