What oil are you all using? the older V8 was designed to us 20w/50 and if you use anything thinner you will notice when it's hot, especially if it's worn.  Try adding some Wynns, or slick 50 (as a precaution).

soundslike u needa bit ofoil pump repair chat ! you  dont allways need a new oil pump  when u take off the oil pump cover get some fine emery cloth and put on a sanding blok and rub the oil pump coverback to smooth  as when the oil pump is in the weight of it whers aginst  the pump cover a scores it and the oil passes around the back of it this little task will take you about 2hrs depending how good you are with the spaners  anwhen its time to put it back together fill  the pump with vassaline to primethe pump ...   yes 20/50 is the correct oil for the engine

Ours used shed loads, I buy a 25Litre (yes that's 25Litres folks) and when it's gone I change it.

So my oil doesn't hang around long enough to thin out.

Mine runs at 40 when cold, 20 when hot and at idle even with fresh oil its can sit at around 5 with the oil pressure light flashing.

V8s are noturious for low pressure.  Changing the oil pump for me made no difference.  Shes quiet and runs a treat so not too fussed  :D
