Title: Your help needed again please
Post by: R2D2 on April 08, 2010, 00:04:31
Hello again,  brakes on a D plate 110 ex MOD 3 door 2.5 n/a diesel

Was a soft top now a station wagon,  we've changed the rear offside hub seal and the rear brake shoes also the brake master cylinder/reservoir,and now cannot get brake peddle pressure.

Have bled all wheels 2/3 times but still have half peddle travel before brakes work. Are we missing something or not doing in the right sequence perhaps?

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Is the pedal 'spongy'? Or firm, but just low?

Spongy pedal = air in hydraulic system
Low pedal = mechanical issue

If you've replaced pads, I would try driving it for a while. I have found that the pedal comes up as the pads settle in. Strange, but this has happened on more than one occasion.

Sounds like the springs may have been fitted in the wrong position.

Did you prime the master cylinder before fitting?
