Title: keeping the water out
Post by: lambert on April 02, 2010, 17:19:03
hello from clean car land.
is/was there such a thing as a splash guard for the front of a 200 disco engine bay?
only every time i touch a lump of standing water on the road at any kind of speed water gets thrown onto my alternator making it squeal and also onto the fan making a mess.
so i was wondering if there was an origional spec guard of some sort that minimised the effect?

cheers in advance.

There was one on the RRC but I've never seen one fitted.

I once bodged my own (for off-road use), an piece of black floor matting, bolted to the bumper, which when "pushed" through water pushed up against the radiator, stopping SOME water & mud getting through.  When stationary, gravity would drop it down to let air get into the radiator
