just been brought a light bar for the discovery and was wondering how people wire them e.g all on just 2 and how do people get cables to them without having a snorkel and has anyone got any ideas how to get them to come on at half power so they can be on all the rime

Just made one for my D2 & will be wiring it up soon (waiting for the cable to come)I'm going to run just one cable (20A) up to power all 4 spotlights (55W) The cable will be routed around the gutter by the windscreen & underneath it to come in via the drivers door seal where it'll go down behind the A post trim under the dash so apart from about an inch of cable the rest will be hidden on the inside

4x55w spots will pull 18.3 amps. No much leeway in a 20 amp cable?
amps=watts/volts

IIRC having them on at half power constantly is illegal?
Mine are wired to come on with full beam, but via a switch so I can either have normal full beam or full beam plus spots. I just took the wire up inside the A pillar and then out via a hole in the roof - sealed it with a plain rubber grommet and it hasn't leaked yet.

Switch in 1ohm high wattage alloy clad resistors per pair lamps like the dim/dip resistors used on certain landrover models.

as is having them on at all whilst on road, they don't meet build lighting regs... too high/too far back from front of vehicle, lorries are okay because of shape of vehicle.

on a disco 2 you can run them down the black screen trims and into the engine bay if i can ill take some pics today
you could try getting spot lamps with side lights in them or go to the scrappy and get push in side light holders drill ur lamps then just have a 5 watt blub on acting aas a side light
if they are fitted either to a aux switch or main beam thers no law agaist them the only stipulation is dont dazzle people with em
i know the law used to be under ur headlamps are fog lights anything above but no higher than 4ft were classed as a spot lamp regardless of light patern

If the cable is 20A continuous rating then it's not going to be a problem.
