Post by: wonderboy on February 16, 2010, 16:09:17
Discovery wont start still.  Changed coil and dissy isnt that old but not getting spark.  Getting quite desperate now as its needs to be running by end of the month.  Trying to avoid taking it to a garage.  Any ideas?

have you tried new ht leads, do you know if the dizzy is arching or not, try spraying inside dizzy cap with wd40 old trick i was told by another landy nut, check firing order is correct, if none of those might be worth changing spark plugs to. hope this can be of help to you

How was it running the last time it ran?  How long ago was that?

Im going to have a look at the cap in the morn.  It wasrunning fine, but that was before christmas.  since then its been dead just not had the time to fix it.  Changed the coil not long after it died the first time and it fired staright away, lasted about 2 weeks then died again.

Try putting a plug intot he coil lead and lay it on the bodywork, then have a mate crank it and watch for a spark.  If you get one then the HT system is faulty, if not then it's the LT side that needs attention.

Check the fusible links are ok, one of mine corroded some time back and gave me this sort of problem.
