can you still get the remains of the key into the barrel? may be possible to run around with it like that for a while. when i did it on my renault there was just enough room to stick in the remains of the key turn the ignition on and it would stay there.
-
it did turn once and started fine, but dont wont turn anymore :'(
-
im sure you have to remove the whole thing, paddocks did me a complete ignition/steering lock for about £35 inc. delivery for the disco 1. the swap over was easy
-
how'd you get the barrel off though?? drill it?
-
you have to remove the cowl around the steering column, theres a clamp around the column, undo the four bolts and the whole setup comes off. a word of advice, dont remove the old one til you get the new one as its easier to match up the wiring
-
If you can get the barrel back to the off position you could try a Neobdium magnet, I have a one the diameter of a halfshaft and it's incredibly strong.

Tried everythignt to get the key out, ordered a new barrell (well second hand of eBay!) am not going to remove the old one, it's only an offroader, will mount the new ignition barrell on the dash or something - would this work? or would thre be issues with steering lock etc?? any idea's?
Cheers

Pull the back off the barel, take out the lock and pull the tumbelers open, the end of the key will just drop out.
Put all back together and get a copy make of your spare key ;)
If you don't have a spare key you can start it from the back of the barrel with a screw driver, take the lock itself into a lock smith and they will make a new set of keys up for you for a couple of quid.
A new lock isn't needed.

LMAO, those wrong hands know more about starting cars with no keys that you ever will ;)
