The BBC hae pressured VOSA into releaseing a table of which cars fil MOT . There is more data linked if you look including a PDF etc
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/opensecrets/2010/01/mot_failure_rates_released.html
bit busy to pass comment but I thought it would be interesting.

I've had a quick skim through and looks interesting, especially the claim that 40 percent of discoveries fail there MOT

Its about right when you think about the rot, but then look at the fact we were 10th out of 42!!! lol, which i think is pretty good!
-
it doesnt help that the lists dont include milages which is very relevent,
i can see that alot of the vehicles on both lists are likely to be company cars or family cars and will be high milage vehicles

i think i have failed atleast one of each of them on both lists

So looking at that the most populer cars on the road fail more mots than less populer models. Bit like when they said you have more chance of been pulled over in a red car when there were more red cars on the road.

Sorry for digging up an old topic but, an MOT fail if the testers feeling harsh could be a blown bulb, broken exhaust mounting etc not nessasarly major things and as long as I keep telling myself that im happy
