Hi everyone.

Im looking to buy my 1st 4x4! :wink:
Thought this would be a good place to start for everyones advice? :dance:

Hi Matt

Welcome - there is a good bunch who meet in Hinkley, think is't first Tuesday of the month... worth looking in the regional meets section for an upadte.

As for advice... there are plenty of different views - that's what makes it interesting.  Good luck with the purchase!

Thanks for the warm welcome people.

I'm looking for a 4x4 to pull my car transporter trailer with, also to do some light off roading with?(maybe)

I'm not fussed with condition, as I like a challenge!
How much would I be looking at for a 4x4 that's on the road but will want some work??

How long is a piece of string? you can pick an old series motor up for less than £400 and that can rise to upwards of £70k if you buy top of the range hi-spec 4x4.

The more details you give the better advice you'll get. So budget, number of seats/doors, engine/fuel type. etc etc

ive been busy buying a Discovery TDI 300 today.
Wants a little bit of work but thats not putting me off! :)

Has any1 any tips for mods/making the most of whats already there?
Will be equiring a few parts to tidy her up as well.

Yes keep it as standard as possible. get some decent AT tyres and, go out and use it. Then decide whether it needs modding. Ypu'll be pleasantly surprised at how capable a std disco is.
