Me indicators are having a paddy!
Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont, sometimes when they dont work i get a buzzing noise from the flasher relay unit.
Hazards work fine (they are on the same relay) and i have just bought a new relay to be sure.
However its still doing it???
Any ideas???
Cheers
Dan

swap your relay unit, sounds like the bimetal strip inside is kaput
-
Have already swapped the relay, bought a new one today.
But how would that explain the hazards working but the indicators not??
-
Dan have you checked all the earths ? 90 Project had same sort of issues was working then it wasn't culminating in having a dicky fit the day it went for an MOT, Suffice to say and hour with the headlights out recleaning and applying lots of Copaslip cured all the issues, poor indicators, and then headlights doing stupid things.
Best was it passed !!!

Fantastic!
Am glad its passed!
Am going to try a new indicator stalk when it arrives and then go from there!
Then will check the earths lol, it would be the switch earth somewhere as i dont think its between the relay and the lights themselves as the hazards work fine and use the the same wiring lol
-
stalk maybe, but have you got some under power bulbs in some/all indicators? Hazards are full load - left or right half load and if low amps the relay would sulk? Just a thought. A

They are all new and came with the light units themselves which were all replaced.
It seems to be before the relay as the relay works fine on the hazards.
Then occasionally when the relay wont work with the indicators it makes a buzzing sound, but if i use the hazards straight after and they work fine, then try indicators again and its either buzzing or nowt.

Dan, you could always stick a Volvo or BMW badge (or insert car badge of choice ) on it and never worry about having to indicate ever again

My indicators some time pack up but when i give the hazards a quick flick on they start working.
-
have you thought about replacing the hazzard switch??????

I have the same problem but in reverse. The indicators are fine but the hazards work then don't with the relay buzzing sometimes. I'm pretty sure its either just a bad connection.

AFAIK the hazard switch is new as the [ed: naughty] who was doing some rewiring on me car for me broke it when he was taking it out, but will double check to see if he has replaced it.

This was what i was doing, but its gotten progressively worse. Am thinking of just running a new wire setup to the switch via a seperate flasher relay and see what that does!
