Auto box oil cooler.
My auto-box oil cooler is leaking. I need to change it as I don’t want it to fail on me but at the same time I don’t want to buy a new one as I don’t intend running this for to long in the future.
It is a RR Classic 1991. It looks as though the ends have a union from underneath with the nut staying on the pipes that connect to the cooler.
Are the connections on this standard pipe sizes or are they specific land rover/vehicle ones.
I am considering making a pipe up or getting a hydraulic pipe made up so that I can remove the cooler and then complete the circuit.
What kind of pressure is there in this system when it is working?
I only use the vehicle on average about once a week and then it will only travel approx 20 miles round trip however I do have a hill to go up on a rough track when I get to my destination.
Alternatively does anyone have a spare that they want rid of? I am located just north of Manchester.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Kind regards
Mick

It runs in the return so at a push you could secure a length of rubber hose over the metal pipes and short circuit the system. But I stronlge advise that you don't. If you can't find a good second hand one then look at a Merc van (pre-sprinter) and don't forget that a V8 manual also had the "hairy sausage" oil cooler for it's box too.

Thanks RRB. Its a while since I was on here and its good that you still give the advice.
Do you know what pressure is in this part of the system.
Thanks for the help.

If its in the return, pretty low, only a few PSI.

My Kenlowe rad is connected with reinforced hose and jubilee clips and it's been fine for 2 years. That's the way the instructions said to fit it.
